Roulette FAQs

What is Roulette?

Most of us have seen the roulette table on TV or in action movies like James Bond. It is the table game with the red and black spinning wheel. Players bet on certain numbers, colors, or combinations of these. High roller players often like to play this game.

How does the Roulette Wheel Work?

When playing roulette, the object is to choose the winning number or color that you think will win. If you have been to various casinos, you would have noticed that there are two kinds of roulette wheels: the American roulette wheel and the European Roulette wheel. The American wheel has 38 numbers and an extra slot called double zero (00) which increases the house edge. This means you are better off playing on the European wheel, which only has 37 slots from 0 - 36. The European Roulette wheel's house edge is only 2.63 compared to the American roulette wheel's house edge of 5.26 percent.

How does the Layout of the Roulette Table Work?

Roulette originated in France and has kept the same layout since the year 1842. The game of roulette has two betting areas: the inside area has the individual numbers and the outside wagering area has different boxes for the columns. This is where you will see the difference between red and black, odd and even, and different sets of numbers. The numbers 0 (and 00 in American Roulette) are based at the top of the columns and the other numbers are on the inside of the wheel, arranged in twelve rows of three, making up three vertical columns.

How to Buy In when Playing Roulette?

It's quite simple, you have to buy roulette chips and sit down at the roulette table. The roulette table will have specific rules and there will be a minimum and a maximum bet. Choose your winning number/combo and how much you want to bet, and you are in.

When you notice one color appearing more often than the other, should you bet with it or against it?

Although there are many players who have superstitions and habits, roulette is a game of luck and one spin does not affect the next. This means, that even if it hit black ten times in a row, the next spin has a 50/50 percent chance of being either black or red. You will notice times when there is a run of blacks or reds, and this is probable according to statistics, but there is no saying how long these runs will last at any given time.

What is the difference between on lots of single numbers and betting on a combination of numbers?

The odds are the same if you bet on a four combo or four separate numbers. Combo bets are, however, a more convenient way of betting on multiple numbers. When you bet four dollars on a split bet that covers you for 4 different numbers, it is the same as placing a one dollar bet on each of the separate numbers.

Can the Martingale system help me to win lots of money while playing roulette online?

The Martingale system is a roulette online betting system where you start betting at the table's amount and then double up your bet after every loss, and return to your lowest bet when you win. Although the Martingale betting system can help you win more money when playing roulette online, it can also cause you to lose more money. The problem comes in when you lose ten times in a row and you keep doubling your betting amount. Sometimes your betting slump will continue and you will then never recover from that loss.
